Why your sector matters
Dutch government bodies fall under the Besluit digitale toegankelijkheid overheid (BDTO): every website and app must conform to EN 301 549, in practice WCAG 2.1 AA, and publish an up-to-date accessibility statement.
Businesses that sell to consumers, from webshops and banks to telecom and transport, fall under the European Accessibility Act (EAA), which has applied since 28 June 2025; only microenterprises that provide services are exempt.
Software companies are bound through their clients: government bodies and businesses increasingly ask for a WCAG-EM report and an accessible product before they sign.
